Canterbury Eagles U-12's 1 Herne Bay Harriers Junior's U-12's 2

The Harriers were back on the road looking to extend their unbeaten recent run to five, with an away game at a wet and an extremely windy Canterbury.

The Harrier's got off to a good start with intense pressure on the Eagles defence, where they seemed to be camped in the final third for the first five to ten minutes of the game, being wind assisted. Balls ran across the goal just begging to be tapped in by a Harriers player. Josh going close with a shot just past the post. Joe had a shot go just wide. Archie T then hit a corner in towards the six yard box, which with the wind was almost taken back into the goal, falling just wide of the far post. Joe then had a couple of snap shots which again went just wide, one from an Archie T cut back from the left, where he was having alot of joy. Joe then hit another shot straight at the goalkeeper, the Harriers were doing so well at pressing from goal kicks, ensuring that Canterbury weren't being let out. With the wind it was always going to be difficult to get out. The Canterbury Eagles then served a warning to the Harriers though, with a quick break and nippy number nine for Cantebury ending of a move which was caught and held onto by Josh F.

The conditions were playing havoc with trying to play conducive football, but the Harriers were doing there best at pining Canterbury back into their own half. Josh I was leading the line, Archie R was having another good game in the middle, showing of his ball rolls, with Olly L being composed at the back. Josh F was having a good game in goal, after a quiet opening period for him. With the half drawing towards a close the Harriers had the breakthrough they so richly deserved. A cut back from Archie T , through a couple of Harriers bodies, the keeper made a save which parried the ball into the feet of Kyle who finished with aplomb into the bottom corner.

The half came to a close with the Harriers one up. The second half started with the Harriers playing against the wind, Canterbury with an early attack leveled up proceedings with a shot which fizzed past Josh F and bounced back out in quick succession. Proving confusing to a few as to whether the ball had actually gone in. The Harriers weren't pegged back for long though, as a quick break after having to defend, Archie T ran most of the length of the field after winning a tackle, whizzed past a couple of players and fed the ball with his left foot to find Archie R who finished with aplomb into the back of the net. It was a real good goal and the Harriers had their advantage back.

There was some close calls for the Harriers before the game was out, Archie T whizzing a ball across goal which Archie R, Josh I and Riley L just couldn't get a touch onto. Somehow the ball staying out with the wind taking the ball away from goal. The Harriers were playing well and asserting the dominant performance. Josh F was playing out goal kicks to Olly L, who was playing out to Archie T and the Harriers were away onto attacks on multiple occasions. Archie T hit a powerful crossfield ball with his left foot which Josh I ran onto and only for a last ditch tackle would have surely doubled the Harriers lead. As the game wore on though, with just the one goal in it, the Harriers got a little nervous. A few clearances downfield by the Canterbury goalkeeper, who was having a real good performance, was being wind assisted, catching out the Harriers defence on a couple of occasions with Josh F coming to the rescue. Olly L was being a colossal in defence being aptly supported by Josh Fr. One last attack by the Eagles down the left, was thwarted by Archie T coming across and making a last ditch thunderous tackle and celebrating like he'd scored a goal. This game meant alot to the boys. A few corners came and went for the Eagles but finally the game was over and the Harriers had another win under their belts.

MOTM was Archie T after a good performance up and down the left. Onto the next against Ramsgate as we look to keep up this run since the new year
