Great Win

Herne Bay Harriers Juniors Under 12s 2 Canterbury Eagles Under 12s 0

The Herne Bay Harriers Juniors Under 12s returned to home duty for the first time in over a month with a game against the Canterbury Eagles.

The Harrier's set off under a new formation and tactics using the wing back system to effect. It was Canterbury Eagles though who created the first opportunity. No. 2 getting in down the right hand side and hitting the outside of the post.
Josh I five minutes in had a snapshot go whistling over the bar. Then though came a real chance of quality. Josh I put a lovely through ball through which Archie T galloped onto In his stride, but without taking an extra touch decided to hit the ball first time and over the bar with his left foot to the goalkeepers relief.
Twenty minutes into the game no. 14 for Canterbury cut inside with his right foot after good work down the left and hit the left hand post with a strike that was unlucky not to go in. A few minutes later and new Josh F had a left foot side foot effort go past the post from good work by Joe, also on his debut, on the left hand side for the Harriers.

As the second half began it started with pressure from the Eagles, Josh F in goal, who was imperious all day, safely holding onto a shot from outside the box by no. 10 from 20 yards. Josh F then made a double save in quick succession from the Eagles, showing his worth between the sticks. From the ball upfield Zebby found himself on the right wing and whipped a ball across the edge of the penalty area finding Kyle, who controlled the ball and hit a sweet right foot effort past the defender and goalkeeper for the Eagles and into the bottom corner, much to the delight of half of the 30 strong crowd. It was a fantastic goal by the captain.

That goal gave the Harriers the lift they needed at right time and the confidence started to ooze out of them, because then, from a Kyle corner, Joe Hit thr ball into the goalkeeper which rebounded into Joe's midrift and trickled into the bottom corner. The Harriers had daylight much to the coach's delight.

Archie T then playing left wing back won a ball in his left back position with 10 minutes to go, managed to skip past one and knock a ball past a second before running around him, got into the penalty area on the left hand side and elected to cross, unfortunately the white shirts were still trying to catch up.

The game ended with intense pressure from the Eagles but Harriers stood up to the challenge as fatigue started to set in. The high press from Canterbury helped them create 3 chances within thr final 5 minutes, Josh F though was rock solid as usual in goal and pulled off some fantastic saves to preserve the clean sheet the team so richly deserved. Proving why he's called Mr.Safe Hands.

A massive welldone to Adam on claiming the MOM award! But it was a fantastic effort by all on Sunday morning and under a new system gave everybody something to cheer about.
