On another blustery afternoon at Herne the Herne Bay Harriers Junior's Under 12's faced a team just above them in the table looking to carry on their good recent run.

After just five minutes the Harriers were on the move and in the groove. Playing some good first time incisive football, a pass from Olly B, to Archie T, made it's way to Archie R, who then fed Kyle who slid a ball through the middle for Joe who then ran through and shot powerfully, the goalkeeper for Dover fumbled the ball and Josh I was on hand to pop the ball over the goalkeeper's head, close to the line, ran around him and smashed home into an empty net. The celebrations though were cut short much to the home support's frustration. Alot on the sideline couldn't figure out why the flag was raised for offside.

Within ten minutes though, the Harriers had the lead they deserved. Archie moving past 2 down the left slotted a ball through which Josh I took in his stride and finished with great aplomb. It was some finish but there was even better to come.

Five minutes after Archie T took a throw in and got the return which he took a made swipe at and fell to the floor, Kyle and Archie R kept the ball alive though with the help of Joe and a spot of pinball the ball fell to Josh I on the left hand side of the penalty area, in one turn Josh I swiveled and cracked a shot into the far top corner of the roof the goal which crackled with a ripple of the net. Real Harry Kane Esque. Some of the game's scrapiest play had bought about the most unexpected goal. What a finish it was to the delight of the crowd!

With the Harriers now having a 2 goal lead, the confidence was now in full flow. Twenty five minutes in, a great team move wirh interlinking play up the field involving everyone from a goal kick resulted in Kyle just shooting wide from outside of the box.

There was a warning to playing out from the back though just two minutes later, with the ball being intercepted and rolled across, Josh F pulled off a miraculous save with his legs as he went one way and the ball went another. A save worthy of any clean sheet. How did it not go in!?
With that the halftime whistle went and the Harriers had themselves in a commanding position.

Just after the break, Archie R, who had a brilliant game, headed the ball back to Archie T from a throw in, down on the byline. He beat the big no.4 for Dover to the ball and with a thud of legs came through leaving the big guy on the floor, raced away down the left, to get his head up and crossed to find Joe in the middle who for only a sliding last ditch tackle from a Dover defender would have had an open goal to score in. It was a miraculous recovery from the Dover defender in all fairness to him.

Five minutes later Josh I shot just wide for the Harriers, and two minutes after that Josh Fr who had a really good game, smacked a magnificent free kick onto the underside of the crossbar. That would have been some goal to open his account for the Harriers. The Harriers weren't stopping from playing their own game, even after coming under increasing pressure.

A few minutes later Dover threatened again with a rasping drive which "safe hands" Josh F caught well. Then from the resulting big punt downfield from Josh, Archie T wrestled with the defender and beat him to the resulting loose ball, but the keeper came out and made a point blank save at close range to put the ball out for a throw.

On fifty minutes there was good build up play between Archie T and Archie R, with the latter finding Riley L, who sidefooted just wide. Five minutes from time Dover's tall no.4 lined up a free kick from 30 yards out on the left hand side, Ben called for both of the sides tallest players to get back onto the posts, with the Archie's taking there place and with everyone holding their breathe the no.4 for Dover slipped and mis kicked the ball which went into the wall. The final whistle went and the Harriers had the win they deserved to continue their great recent run.

Their was some fantastic performances from the side, with everyone playing there part. Olly B had another brilliant game at the back. Josh Fr had another good game integrating himself into the side. Josh F in goal and the defence deserve a mention with the clean sheet. Olly A had another good game and offcourse and Josh I with his two goals was great. MOTM though went to Archie R after a fantastic performance.

Onto Canterbury away next.
