Club invests in the safety of our spectators, players and the school community

Herne Bay Harriers are delighted to announce that we have funded, purchased and installed an automatic defibrillator at our home ground on the Herne School fields.

The club committee voted unanimously at our last meeting to spend the money on getting an FA approved defibrillator of our own, meaning that any players, parents, coaches, referees and all other visitors are never more than 50m away from the machine when they are at Herne. Being the same machines used on the FA emergency first aid course, all coaches will know how to operate it, but its voice guide talks you through the process meaning anyone can use it and potentially save a life.

Whilst we sincerely hope that it never has to be used, the central location of the defibrillator also means we are able to support our local community so that staff and school children from Herne Juniors, Herne Infants as well as Little Acorns nursery have access to this if needed.

The external cabinet is heated, meaning the machine will be at operating temperature and ready to use 24/7. The cabinet is clearly visible on the front of the changing rooms, facing the Junior school.
