Herne Bay Harriers U'9s Jnrs

Tankerton Colts U'9s (Home) (02/03/19)

Herne Bay Harriers faced Tankerton in what was a difficult and physical game on Saturday morning.

Harriers got off to fast start as usual, a perfect start one could say, as they forced a flurry off corners. From another break a ball was whipped across the box from the left by Kyle, the tankerton defence had thought they'd done enough with a clearance, but their defence didn't bank on Archie T hitting a first time shot from 20 yards over the outfield off players and goalkeeper's head and into the top corner. A truly remarkable goal which delighted all Harriers supporters on the touchline. Tankerton came back strongly though, and only a great piece off defending by Oliver, in which he produced a Cruyff esq. turn, stopped a clear chance for the away side. Harriers then went close to scoring again though, Archie T fed a ball into the middle off midfield into Archie R who in turn played a first time pass through to Josh who produced a great save from the goalkeeper. Tankerton's No.10 found a great turn on the box to draw a great save from Jude in goal. But then a corner from Tankerton found a scrappy goal for the away side to get them back into the game. From there the Harriers found a way back into the Tankerton net, with a shot by Josh saved with Archie R following up like all good midfielders do to find the goal. With that half time drew to a close.

The second half started with the Harriers coming out off the blocks with the managers thoughts in their ears. A long throw from Kyle found it's way to Archie T who ran through and slotted into the back off the net. And from another throw in from Kyle, Archie T found a first time pass through to Josh. He then found a great finish to put the Harriers in control. Kyle then took a ball just inside the Tankerton half, and with a mazy run down the left, found his way past 2 defenders and finished with a powerful shot inside the goalkeepers near post. When he'd gone that far, why not have a go? And what a finish it was. Next Josh volleyed an effort from an Archie T cross just wide. And from an Oliver cross Josh hit the post. Tankerton missed a late penalty after a handball in the Harriers defence. Tankerton did however have the last say, with a good turn and shot by their no.8 to find the net. Zeb had the final action with a mazy run, a good ball across the box just evaded Josh's right footed dive at the back post.

Archie R was named MOM for the Harriers. With a good all round performance from the team, we march on to next weekend where we face Tankerton in the reverse fixture.

Come on you Harriers. #HBHFC
