Match Report

Harriers u9 jrs

Whitstable Town Juniors FC (Away)

Herne Bay Harriers U9's Juniors took on a team they had struggled against in their opening game of the season. The Harriers continued their impressive season form, since that game, with a relentless attacking performance to the delight off their manager.

The Harriers had pressed from the off and only a fine save by the Whitstable goalkeeper had stopped Archie T from opening the scoring. Josh and Archie R had also gone close before Whitstable opened the scoring. The boys kept going, persevering in the wind and rain and hit back deservedly when good hard work from Kyle down the left, cutting back onto his right foot, crossed the ball, which ended up in the back off the net, nestling into the far corner. The boys then took the lead after some good play by Archie T down the right, he made some space for the cross with nifty foot work, and Josh was on hand to find the finish with coolness personified.

The second half started much like the first, with the Harriers applying the pressure. Josh found a cool finish from inside the box. After good play between Kyle and Archie T. Then came the goal off the game, with Josh finding the net from outside the box after a pass from Oliver had found him with plenty off work to do, finding the top corner. It capped a fine performance from the no.10 with his hattrick goal. Whitstable though would never give up, putting in a final quarter off the game worthy off a goal. Only a fine save from Jude, the post and great defending on the line stopped Whitstable from pulling a goal back in the last quarter off the game. Good defending from Oliver and Zeb, with Jude behind them helped the Harriers from conceding any in the second half as Whitstable showed what a good side they are. Staying competitive throughout.

This performance was as close to a complete performance as the boys have had. With good creative forward play, great tenacity in midfield and brilliant defending at the back. Their manager describing it as their "best performance to date" himself. Man of the match award went to Josh for his hard work, selfless performance and offcourse his goals.

Come on the Harriers! #HBHFC
